Gamer Guys Take a Turn:Top 5 Reasons You Can Make Fun of a Girl Gamer on Live

Mar. 8 12:39 PM by Nikole

With the sudden flood of "Gamer Grrl" blogs/rants/videos these past few weeks many guys have decided to come back with their own take on the situation. One such guy named Billy decided to make a list defending a guys right to make fun of girls who game. I doubt this is to be taken too seriously, but I'm not sure. Up until a few weeks ago I didn't think anyone really cared who they played with online. If I was ever being bothered by someone I stopped playing with them, I never thought of it as some epidemic of stupidity. But to some people there certainly seems to be a problem, and both sides, male and female seem to be affected. Thoughts?

Most gamers on XboxLive are male. I won't go into age, cause it ranges from 6 year olds to 40 year old men, which is fine. However, there exists one certain gamer that always seems to draw attention to a chatroom full of men --- the female gamer.

While there aren't that many females on XboxLive compared to guys, most girls find out its best to keep quiet, or else they will feel the wrath of a "Real Gamer." And I'm sorry to say the only real gamers are guys. So, to the point, why we can make fun of you...

And the Gamer Girl Bitching continues...

Mar. 1 4:12 PM by Nikole

And the bitching continues... I'm going to do my best to leave me opinions out of this and make it as unbiased as I can, because I mostly want your opinions on the matter.
I was reading an article on bingegamer.net. The author Allison Boyer was discussing her experiences while playing XBL. She complains that she doesn't like using her mic due to the fact that she has a woman's voice, as most women do. The problem with having a woman's voice you ask? You get comments like these:

"Ooo, your voice sounds sexy, Ooo, I'll protect you baby, Ooo, you up for some fun?

She says that while playing she will either get killed non-stop by guys thinking its funny to kill a girl or be protected by players who think its chivalrous to keep her from harms way. The bottom line being: "I'm a girl. I like to play video games. STOP RUINING IT FOR ME."

There, a simple painless little article stating how this girl felt she was being harassed and treated differently on live. Hardly breaking news or any kind of oddity. But the part that strikes me is the comments she received. The article went up today and there are already 50+ comments, the majority of which being negative and involving the world kitchen and/or sammiches. [Guys get some new jokes!!!]

Sex and Video Games

With recent talks about Mass Effect and its supposed graphic content, I couldn't help but take a (slightly) serious moment to look into the hype surrounding sex and video games. Naturally I figured this hot topic was something I could get into since most of us enjoy both. I consider myself pretty, intelligent so I started researching all the negativity regarding sexual content in video games.

Drive like a Man!

Oct. 14 10:59 PM by Nikole

Sega Rally Revo is a game for the xbox 360, ps3, psp, and the pc. The game came out a week ago. The American marketing campaign for this game involves two valley girl race car drivers. Every short ends with the line, "Drive like a Man". Even though these commercials can be seen as offensive towards women, I just find them funny. I caught myself going, "Oh Em Gee, my friends and I totally do that!". By admitting that do I send women back 80 years or something? O well, I'm not offended.

Xcore gaming not 'ok' for girls.

Oct. 11 1:27 PM by Nikole

A new study and survey done by GameDaily.com says that 60% of parents ban their daughters from playing games at a hardcore level whereas only 37% ban their sons. The study suggests that the social norm is that women should not be associated with activities that are violent like hunting and sports. The idea is that video games are synonymously known as being violent. This is because the top games in America are games that are not marketed towards girls. They key demographic is still 18-24 year old males.

Most Females are IGNORANT.

Oct. 5 4:52 PM by Britini_Martini

So I was cruising around youtube watching all these stupid videos about girl gamers. It's a topic that I can't stand to talk about because it's a never ending subject and everyone has their bias opinions and nobody is ever right.

anyways...

While I was surfing around youtube, I came across this video and it irritated the shit out of me and made me want to stab someone with a samurai sword.

I seriously hate stupid females like this. Girls like this are the reason why people are always like "Girls play video games??? wtf?" It's because the only females they ever meet are dumbasses like THIS. They're so oblivious to the fastest growing form of entertainment today, and actually think they're cool for not knowing anything about it. What you look like... is a bunch of stuck up dumbasses.

"I'm not a gamer. I have a life."
