This past week I have been driving non-stop, just not irl. I have been driving in GTA 4 and driving in Mario Kart and this got me thinking about the best modes of transportation in games. So here are the Top 7 Rides in Video Games:

7. Mine Kart: Donkey Kong Country. Donkey Kong Country on the SNES is arguably one of the best titles released by the late Rare. A gaming mechanic that was somewhat new at the time was the Mine Cart. The Mine Cart travels down track with many holes that you must jump over. Soon you'll be jumping to get bananas and even while the cart is in mid-air.

6. Landmaster: Star Fox. The Landmaster is a tank used in Star Fox. Being one of the only land vehicles in the series it certainly holds its own. More recently this tank can be seen in Brawl as Fox's Final Smash.

5. Patriot: GTA 4. There are many modes of transportation in the GTA series but none have impressed me quite like the Patriot. This massive car rules the street, it owns all who dare come to close. Oddly enough it gets horrible gas millage though.

4. Epona: Zelda Series. A list from me without Zelda just isn't an accurate list, that being said: here is number 4. Epona made her first appearance in Oot as a young horse. You learn Epona's song, ^ < > ^ < >, and she becomes your loyal steed. You can ride her in various Zelda game to travel across the ever growing land of Hyrule, or in the case of Majora's Mask Termina.

3. Chocobo and Yoshi tie at number 3. Chocobo is from the Final Fantasy Series and Yoshi is from the Mario Series. Both are ridden like how one would ride an ostrich, right, thats a good analogy...Both can carry you long distances and can help through out the game. If you had to decide between the two it would come down to your personal preference, chicken or lizard?

2. Wyvren: WoW. Also known as Windrider, these are the main flying epic mounts of the Horde. They carry the Horde members across the Outlands, like the Griffins do for the Alliance. They pretty much perform the same duties as the Griffin but the Wyvren just looks so much cooler.

1. Sweet Tooth: Twisted Metal. Twisted Metal is one of the most intense and fun games involving vehicular combat. This is a favorite game to many and there is a consensus that the best car to get is Sweet Tooth. Maybe it's because we all hate clowns, or because ice cream is so damn good, or maybe it's the heartfelt story of a homicidal manic looking for a dear friend, but whatever it is Sweet Tooth is number 1.

And of course there is an honorable mention, the Elephant from Halo.
