GTA 4: First Thoughts

Apr. 29 8:04 PM by Nikole

So today I, like many, spent a good portion of my day playing Grand Theft Auto. I haven't gotten very far, only 10 gamer points, but I did get some Warm Coffee and that's what counts. So I wanted to give you my impressions so far. The hardest thing about the game I've realized is controlling your car. I am not a good driver in real life, and I guess that transfers over into gaming as well. I am starting to get the hang of it though. Another thing I don't like is how little of Liberty City is capable of interacting with. Other then those two things I am completely loving it. I just got a pistol and not to brag, but I'm a good shot. So I'm having lots of fun with it so far.

How bout you though?
Anyone have the same problems with driving as I do?
Tell me your thoughts.

And if your one of the people who haven't pick it up this game, then I have great news for you. Tonight on The Game Show, the show I co-host, we are giving away a free copy of GTA on the system of your choice. So tune into TheStream.tv @ 10pm pst/1am est, see you there!!!

I'm getting it this week. So gimmie a chance

yes the driving is harder but more fun i love the way the car handles, but the warm coffee was a little quick i think nikco might need to improve his performace, current reviews have given this game 10/10 i'd say its more 9/10 from what i've played also i want to be able to turn off the radio station without having to go to the menu but really so far so good it still feels gta with the slow starting story at the beginning which i really just want to skip and get on with the better stuff, i also hate nickos cousin but thats probley everybody, i also really want to try the multiplayer but haven't of yet, sometimes the movement contol are annoying and of course like all gta's the shooting is rubbish but like i said i have only scratched the surface

this game is great. the motorcycles are alot harder to drive than the cars. i like how when you are drunk it makes walking hard. its so fun seeing how much different liberty city is from NYC. but at the same time its so similar. i live in queen and in the game its called dukes and my fav bar is in the game. Steinway beer garden its not called that in real life but its still there.

The driving is incredibly difficult in this. Before I could make tight turns with the hand brake but now as soon as I tap it I'm doing a 180 into a cop car.

Ya the car handling is a lot more realistc now but i've preety much have gotten the hang of it. I like how you steal cars now its alot more realistc then in the older GTA games were you would just walk up to a car and take it. I have only played a couple of Hrs. of the game but so far I haven't been disappointed.

Probably going to get hated on for this but I don't think it's that good of a game. Don't get me wrong, I'm having fun, it's just that it's the same GTA. I thought it was suppose to be different, so far it's the same old game too me. I agree with the driving thing, it is alot harder to do. I'm going to keep on playing, like I said it's fun, I was just expecting something a little different.

Why fix something that isn't broken.....They just added a few new features like mulitplayer and everything revolving around your cell phone.

anyone find a radio station that Laslow is in?, that guy was my favourite radio host in gta series

I think that taking cover behind objects is a good thing. The ability to stick close to walls, parked cars, and the like at the touch of a button makes GTAIV's gunplay a huge improvement over that in previous games, and, in tandem with the new targeting system, it also makes it a lot easier.

Keep in touch with your dates, friends, and some of your enemies using a cell phone is also a good thing.

Anyway, GTA IV is awesome. my rate 10/10 no doubt

Great game so far. Is it just me or do the graphics seem alittle blurry ? Maybe my eyes are just fucked up. Still looks and plays great, like a nice blonde should.

Wow i didn't think I could say fuck on here.

NOOOOO! Everyone is talking about this damn game. I am that one person on your friends list that doesn't have it. Still playing Gears of War and other old news games. Nobody even asked me if I wanted to play or even invited me to a match just to show that you have not left me behind. (You can still send it J The Jester is the gamertag) Excuse me why I go cry and stay in last year's realm of gaming.

has anyone won at the pool table :}

I won the pool game but not by playing good. The other person scratched after pocketing the 8 ball. It's hard as hell to line up the shots with that game. To bad it's not like Yahoo pool. Was pretty hard to get the high score for that puzzle game that's like Tetris to, atleast for me.

loving the game, but i was having trouble with the driving as well. i found it was easier to drive when you switch to first person.

I had trouble with driving at first but I seems to remember San Andreas driving was a little squirelly at first. I love this game and I think all the other games coming out will have to go an extra 10 miles with effort.

@gamers seriously were is laslow in gtaIV???

I'll post my thoughts after completing the game.
