So this last Sunday, I attended the most exciting exhibit of the year (in my hometown) -
The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo. It's no San Diego Comic Con, but it was 15 minutes from home, and absolutely satisfying...
The expo was packed with tons of actors, such as: Matthew Wood: Voice of General Grevievous in Star Wars. Kevin Sorbo: Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Xena Warrior Princess. Tricia Helfer: Best known from her role as Cylon Number 6 in Battlestar Galactica. George Takei: helmsman Hikaru Sulu from the original Star Trek, to name a few.
There were artists from all corners of the industry, (anime, graphics design, comics, graphic novels, animated film & television, etc..) cosplay, gamer tees, action figures, board games, trading cards, and plenty other swag... There was just so much to take in. It's a good thing I'm low on cash, because I would have spent way too much money in one day.
Here are some cool pics the girls and I took. Brace yourself, there's a lot:
OH HAI Darth Maul! Clearly I'm frightened...
Boba Fett and I
Jango
Oh the predator... Equipped with an iPod, and army pants :O lol
Pwnin' GH. Except not really, performance anxiety to the max. :(
My absolutely favorite part about this expo was the presence of my favorite internet show! Pure Pwnage! They held a tournament, and had a huge gaming booth set up with four HP Blackbird's for CoD 4, and C&C3: Kane's Wrath. Plus a big screen TV for BRAWL. Winner got to take home their OWN Blackbird. Snaaaaap.
Here's the famous FPS Doug (BOOM HEADSHOT, etc) and Jeremy from Pure Pwnage, watching some gaming action by the tourny contestants - no pressure or anything!
Dave from Pure Pwnage, and myself.
Tournament playas. The kid in the front has PERFECT hair! DO WANT.
My girlie Michele, posing with Iron Man!
My friend Marko with Nariko from Heavenly Sword
A few things I picked up! Emma Frost, Beast, Jar Jar Binks, and Darth Vader action figures!
The ladies and I with all our goodies, resting our tired feet!
and the best for last...The add for the Expo:
After that experience, I would LOVE to attend San Diego's Comic-Con. One can dream.

That poster rules!
I want to go to one of these! Being 14 stinks.. Well, no and then..
Hmm, I hope whenever I get a chance to go to one of these I'll have either an awesome Banjo and Kazooie costume, or an incredible Link costume.
OMG that looked like fun! I want to go to comic-con this year but I don't think I will be able to =[ so I feel your pain.
Nice purchases by the way, I love Emma Frost =]
loved the attractive poster...LMAO...
I just wanted to say, it's nice to see a girl gaming site that doesn't require the women to look like Pussycat Dolls wannabes. *cough*FragDolls*cough*
It's like there's enough sexism in the gaming industry, without girl gamers only being presentable as some sort of male ideal. I'm glad to see images of women who look like typical female gamers.
I'm trying to say this in a way, that doesn't come across as your not as hot as x..I mean it more in a way that you seem more real. Also, can you please give me a break for this Fragdolls interview I saw for Rayman Raving Rabbids, I sware it was like:
"Tee-hee I'm so good at this laundry game cause I'm a girl!" Seriously, could you get anymore self-demeaning. What's next "OMG I'm so good at Cooking Mama cause women like totally belong in the kitchen barefoot!" Ok I'm done ranting about that now.
I like the attractive poster, it's funny when companies are brave enough to be honest like that. It'd be even funnier if some guy walked past the poster that looked just like him. Like when the caveman from the Geico ads walks by an advertisement, and it's someone who looks just like him.
I've thought about getting involved with the dork community, but I think I'm not really dork enough. Like, I can't sew so I can't make fancy costumes. I really only know/care about cute video games, which doesn't appeal to guys. Actually I think it scares them away like, "Behold the cuteness of the Pink DS!" and the guys are like, "IT'S SO WRONG, THE HORROR, THE HORRRORRRRR!"
So I guess that's all I have to say for now. I've been playing Chibi-Robo Park Patrol alot lately, and have been trying to get back into some games I downloaded from virtual console I haven't played in a long time. Like Yoshi's Story, too freaking cute.
