Exclusive Interview: GAMER BEAUTIES

Apr. 2 5:03 PM by Miz_Calamity

By now everyone has heard of the infamous PMS (Pandora's Mighty Soldiers formerly known as the Psychotic Man Slayers) Clan and the FragDolls. Both groups are very well known within the gaming community and you will always see them at the nearest tournament. But I am not here to talk about them, I am here to bring to everyone's attention a group of Gamer Girls who are kicking butt and slowly making a name for themselves --the Gamer Beauties (formerly known as Halo Beauties).

I will be doing a monthly article on these awesome ladies and their travels through the MLG Tournament Season. I am now proud to present:
Tell me a little bit about how the Halo Beauties got established.
Starting back in '04 when Halo 2 was released, Uncertain and DevilsMistress, partnered up and started a clan called "BadAssBeauties" . We were looking to create an active and fun girl gaming community. This is where we decided to take it to the next level and started playing more often. We invited the few girls we knew and played with and started building a structured clan. Since the end of 04' until today we have had 3 active divisions of our clan. These includes the LethalBeauties as well a short lived time with MoB Beauties. We started participating in Online Gamebattles Competitions in the beginning of '06 and have, since then created numerous teams of girls that proudly support the name of HaloBeauties.

Are you ladies just a Halo clan?
Having originated in Halo 2 isn't stopping any of our Gaming fanatics from playing a whole new broad variety of games. We have seen many girls that started out in Halo, now playing Call of Duty 4 like complete addicts. When we realized enough of us were staying up ridiculous zombie hours after our Halo practice, just to play Call of Duty, Gears of War or Rainbow Six it just became obvious to open official teams. We currently have War Beauties for GoW and CoD4 Girls that team up for a good match. And I know its a little off the First Person shooter type game but we do have RockBand and GuitarHero as well, that the girls can't get enough of.

Why have you decided to change your name to "Gamer Beauties"?
Since we decided to branch out into other games we couldn't assume that keeping the name HaloBeauties would still be appropriate. So as a whole girl gaming community we decided to have all of our teams under one representation. And that was GamerBeauties. ie GB

Are you strictly a competitive gaming clan?
There are many types of gamers, and we have never been the ones to tell a person they shouldn't be playing. We have adults that play the more mature rated games, and we have the younger girls involved in our clan as well, in which we always try and make sure they are taken care of. We have always welcomed any girl that is interested in playing with us. As for the way we are structured as a gaming community, we have casual players and then we have competitive players that would rather hold there controller than breath the air around them. So we do try and offer a variety of different gaming environments.

People seem to be complaining a lot about Girl Only clans, How do you feel about it? We have heard numerous complaints in girl only clans, as far as that goes; These are out there to give its members the gaming experience that each individual has been looking for. Together we appreciate and value the friendships and support that all of us have been able to give each other throughout the years. Girls that game generally still come across a lot of trash talking and negative feedback. We have tried our best to be a community that empowers females that enjoy gaming and to continue doing what they love.

Do you have a "Guys Division"?
We are allied at the moment with a Clan of guys called the Unknowns. They support our girls and we practice or skirmish together. These guys will also be appearing at MLG, as for representation Verizon is currently their sponsor and their first Major league competition for this year will start in San Diego and continue into the finals.

I know you have ladies competing for Halo 3 this year, but do you have ladies competing in other titles as well? i.e. R6: Vegas 2, Gears of War, Call of Duty 4 (Online), Guitar Hero 3, etc. Last year we competed at two of the live events This year we are quite confident with where we are taking our Halo teams The Gamer Beauties intend on being represented at every MLG this year, we are quite confident with our Halo teams and the strategies we have been learning. As for our other teams, the Gears girls, it will be their first year competing, so we have a lot to look forward to in watching that team progress and compete. The Call of Duty girls do not at this time have the capabilities of traveling. But if our funds situation change that could greatly increase the chance of success. And as for RainbowSix Vegas2 we are very driven to try and get a competitive team of girls. Those girls will be hitting up the online Gamebattles very soon. Of course there are a lot of us that enjoy ShadowRun, CounterStrike, World of WarCraft and other multiplayer games, so as our clan grows so does our variety of games.

What do you see for the future of your gaming community?
We have all taken a lot of pride in our clan and who we represent. Remembering back to where it started and seeing what we are accomplishing has inspired us to believe anything is possible. The clan took off in the direction of every girls hopes as a gamer, And like we mentioned before, We have worked hard to ensure this gaming community makes everyone feel welcome and in place. Divisions are set up to travel and compete in hopes of being a winning team and acquiring Full Sponsorships. Other Divisions have gathered up to meet gamers like themselves and practices together just for fun, playing custom games where every one is respected and free to have a good time in a welcome surrounding. The way we see it, this clan has completed its purpose by grouping our girls under one name and seeing them networking together as the closest of friends. Though this year we have decided a start to something much larger. And we are now striving to open opportunities to those who have crazy skills and big dreams of being a pro gamer and traveling to compete nation wide. We are currently bringing other gamers from multi gaming platforms to join and share in new experiences. We have also become quite aware of many issues the gaming world must come to face and we want to be apart of the guarantee that ensures a fun and safe gaming future. We will overcome whatever obstacles stand in the way.
I want to thank these ladies for giving me a little bit of their time for this interview. Please check back over the next couple of days for exclusive interviews with ladies from their community that will be competing this year.
