ComicCon Costume Help

Comic Con 2008 is only about 3 and a half months away and I need help finding a costume, or two...or three. :)

The one costume I know I am definitely doing is Supergirl:



But I need more than just one costume and I could use you guy's help!

Others I have thought about are Natalia from Danger Girl:




And Casyey Lynch from Guitar Hero: (this is not the right outfit)



(This is not the outfit I want to wear tho, I just couldn't find a good photo of it. For those of you who have played the game, it's the outfit with the black vinyl pants and the black corset with red trim). Only problem is everywhere I have looked for the right Casey Lynch corset has it going for about $300-$500!! Ouch!


Do you guys have any better suggestions? Or maybe favor one costume over another? Can you think of any video game or comic character I might be leaving out and would be cool to go as?

I'm attending Comic-Con (my first one) as part of a research program, but I am still really excited about going. I've never been West of North Carolina, so it'll be an adventure.

emielli: Are you fron NC? That's really cool, I am from Raleigh, NC but just moved about 2 months ago. Hope we get to run into each other at the show!!

But who would I suggest?

Little sister obviously gets points in my book for it being so damn cool, and it's comic con, so I'm sure there will be at least one big Daddy. A fun Marvel costume, and great reference, but a little challenging, would be Karlolina Dean from the Runaways.
Or the little hellraiser from the same comic, Molly Hayes. (She actually took down the Punisher!)

If we wanted to lean more towards DC, I always say Star Girl.

This year will definitely be the year of the Green Lantern there, so I would also suggest Arisia.

But actually... it's also going to be the year of The Watchmen, so Silk Specter I or II would blow peoples minds.

Alright, COMIC-CON FTW, i have been going since 1996, havent skipped one single year (Since i live 14 minutes from San Diego Convention Center).
Alright, now on to business, may i suggest Nina Williams from Tekken or Emma Frost (White Queen), but CAUTION, this costumes may cause distraction on the street and a lot of crowd around you :)

 

Scarecrow_Zero: Oh yeah, Nina is a good one! Don't know how I missed her, definitely would be a hard costume to make/pull off...but she is totally a character I will have to keep on the top of my lists of hopefuls.

I do LOVE Emma Frosts costume, she has the best one out off all female comic characters, but a good friend of mine does her every year and I will be spending the majority of my time with her...so I wouldn't wanna step on any toes. :)

 

that Supergirl costume would be pretty hot on you i think.

i'm sure anything you pick will look great on you though! do you win anything for having best costume?

 

Yeah, Emma Frost is a great character, no doubt. Problem is similar to what Raychul stated... everyone dresses as her. Why not go as Catwoman? (Sarcasm)

An interesting Marvel character who will get alot of light this year is of course Miss Pepper Potts, the beautiful assistant of ANthony Stark... only problem is that she's a fiery red head.

Have you considered Zero Suit Samus, Raychul?

 

Oh, I should have stated this earlier.

I would stay away from most DC characters this year. Unless it's the big 5. But yeah... Supergirl and Mary Marvel are supposed to do something really terrible... and the fanboys will be in huff for sure.

 

joydestroy: Aww, thank you! :) No prizes for best costume (that I know of), but I have never dressed up in a costume, except for Halloween which is my favorite holiday b/c I get wear a costume. So, I am excited to get to dress up as a character and walk around. I realy can't wait to see all the other costumes too! I really wanna see some horror movie/game characters!

 

MasterFang: Why are DC characters a bad idea this year? And why will fanboys be pissy if I dress up like Supergirl?

 

Well it's not that. It's that comic fanboys, unlike myself, can get up in arms about certain things. Considering that Supergirl has a notable role in DC's upcoming Final Crisis, it might piss off, or annoy fanboys. And comic fanboys can at times be worse than PC fanboys. Which is of course scary.

We don't know what will happen, and who will die... let me just say that. I'd say if you really want to, go for it! But there is no power greater than a fanboy's scorn.

 

Raychul, just by any chance does your friend is Aktrez? (the one who dress like emma frost). i know her from pwned. shes pretty cool and writes good blogs. if not nevermind :)

You could go as anyone Raychul. You'd make it hot anyway.

believe me Raych - once you go to the SD comic-con you'll see how dope it is and wonder why you never flew out for it before! can't wait to see whatever cute outfit you wear :)

I'm a big fan of the DOA and Final Fantasy girls. I'm working on a Tifa costume for myself...

 

Natalia from Danger Girl would be my choice. The whole fishnet top thing is pretty hot.

 

Trish from devil may cry 4, or Casey Lynch with her purple outfit! hawt!!
