With the sudden flood of "Gamer Grrl" blogs/rants/videos these past few weeks many guys have decided to come back with their own take on the situation. One such guy named Billy decided to make a list defending a guys right to make fun of girls who game. I doubt this is to be taken too seriously, but I'm not sure. Up until a few weeks ago I didn't think anyone really cared who they played with online. If I was ever being bothered by someone I stopped playing with them, I never thought of it as some epidemic of stupidity. But to some people there certainly seems to be a problem, and both sides, male and female seem to be affected. Thoughts?

Most gamers on XboxLive are male. I won't go into age, cause it ranges from 6 year olds to 40 year old men, which is fine. However, there exists one certain gamer that always seems to draw attention to a chatroom full of men --- the female gamer.

While there aren't that many females on XboxLive compared to guys, most girls find out its best to keep quiet, or else they will feel the wrath of a "Real Gamer." And I'm sorry to say the only real gamers are guys. So, to the point, why we can make fun of you...

XboxLive is not an equality opportunity environment. This is our realm. We have owned the gaming realm since Chess, Pong, and Dungeon&Dragons. Just like if we were to walk into a beauty store, we would be a noob. Hairspray, mouse, gel --- it all does the same thing right? That's exactly how we feel when a female enters our domain.

2. Your Voice
Technology has failed to capture the true sound of the female voice. Instead of hearing a sweet, soft voice, all's we hear is a high pitched, child-like sound, instantly inciting the anger buried deep within the male genome. Believe me, if you had to hear yourself, you would say 'shut up' too.

3. We Secretly Want to Be Your Xbox Friend
We will never admit it, but we really do want to be on your friendlist. Maybe its the insane idea that you will come over the cable wire and give me a blowjob. Maybe its the idea that we can have XboxLive Vision Chat in the nude. We make fun of you cause we want to get your attention, with even a small possibility you will think we're funny. And we could all use some more female friends im sure.

4. You Play Too Nice
XboxLive is a battle zone. Making friends or chit-chat with the enemy is a violation of principle. You like to talk nice and wish everyone a good game. WRONG! You are supposed to hate the enemy. You MUST t-bag the opponent if you pwn them. You MUST betray your teammate if he steals the sniper from you. It seems that the female gender does not have this killer instinct.

5. You Most Likely Suck (at playing)
Ok. I know there are 'SOME' good girl gamers out there. And my hat goes off to you for competing in a man's world. However, don't be mad when we make fun of you. You don't realize that 95% of the girl gamers we encounter are in fact noobs. They are playing on their brothers Xbox or something to pass the time. And these gamers deserve to be ridiculed, screamed at, and made fun of to the fullest extent. While on occasion there may be a very good girl gamer, you are few and far between, and must PROVE yourself in the battlefield. Until you do, you will always be a noob.

Again, this applies to 95% of the girl gamers I meet online. For the other 5%, I hope you will realize that you are not in this category and are indeed respected by the gaming community. So don't take offense to us cursing at you in-game, it's just our natural reaction. British kids though, are a different story..."

I can't stand it when people are complete jerks to me online. There will always be morons in this world, such is life.

Hmm... hard to tell how much of its just joking around... It does give a few good explanations as to why guys are jerks, though, even if there's no excuse for it.

I lol'd. People have to lighten up about this shiz. A lot of girls freak out when they get a little harassed in game - Put on your big girl panties and suck it up :P Laugh at it all.

I feel you on the British kids they've ruined more than a few good rooms for me. As for the chicks I play with a few different girls. Only one is even halfway decent. Good post man.

yeah, I disagree with this. There's too much hostility on xbox live. #3 is spot on though.

#3 has kinda happened to me in a weird way while i was playn resistance b4. after the game, this person started askn me questions like whats my name, what do i look like, what are my interest, am i lookn for a girlfriend, etc. i got kinda confused b/c i knew damn well i didnt know this person. i told her i dont get down w/ telln strangers everything about me. she told me that i sounded like an interesting person and that she wanted to get to know me. at that moment, my face changed like 100 different ways and i just kept chanting WTF WTF WTF???? i just kept thinkn bout my friend who met a girl over Halo 2, became her boyfriend but NEVER saw each other and i just thought of how strange that was. i told her this is kinda weird and i didnt message her back after that

Oh come on Britini play nice lol...Nah but seriously that high pitch voice is annoyin as hell, specially when they tryin singin a song or rappin', but those normally be little 8 years old kids that came from Halo & be owning lol...An as for the sniping part I be pissed when I can't get sniper & the person gettin it doesn't even get a down in Gears of War let alone a headshot lol...

I've found american kids to be just dreadful online.

But in the past few weeks, I 've had some amount of twats from england ruin call of duty.

I play with a mix of english Irish and Scottish, but the english guys get so embarrassed when the english kids act idiotic.

I sometimes let my brother or nephew play but they know well not to be a jerk...some people have bad parents i'm afraid.

okay so i was browsing stuff on google (game sites) to find one i might join besides which i'm in already in like roosterteeth.com and gamespot.com anyway so i found the heading gamer guys take a turn....being male and interested of this topic i found myself here but of course i can't reply or comment because i'm not a member so i signup and find myself talking (well typing) now anyway thats the backstory and secondly their is like no way i can unregister too but anyway what i wanted to say is, that not of course (as you would know) that not all guys are like that and sure you get those annoying 13year guys who think they are top of the world and its seem that its mostly americans as well your country either has high amount of sexism cases then mine, btw i'm from australia, the best way to play is too play with friends on your friends list but you need alot of friends and they have to be online too mostly when i've played online i haven't as of yet seen negitive responses to girls mostly its guys trying to put girls in their friendlist because they suddenly think...WOW OMG A GIRL A REAL GIRL OMG OMG!!!! well in their minds anyway.

truly, as more girls play games the less this will happen it is true its has a large male population and anyway most gamers are annoying online anyway its finding the best ones but a great feature though is one seen in halo3 its when you can MUTE other people out it simply makes it more enjoyable to play online or you can join a clan, group whatever instead

BTW this is just a guess for those annoying gamers its happens to guys as well i get annoying people sending random friend requests, i get annoying gamers that can't shut or are rude to everybody but another reason a guy might want to be rude to a girl on live is that its a way for guy who isn't good with girls, gets picked on by them or feels even scared of them to find a place to go in a domain where he can escape from that but is shocked when a girls is their too, also their maybe the factor that the guy is just a stupid idiot who has no life, is fucking a moron, sexist and should be murdered.

NOTE: those guys always have low gamerscore i wonder why?

Why just the other Day I made fun of a Gurl for some of those very same reasons ending in quite a dispute...COme to think of it this guy is right..I have done all of this. BUT at the same time who cares? im pretty sure the world doesnt end when gurls play video games. It's always gonna be something.. It's the same thing for me except with disrespectful little kids. All I heard was racist jokes in SOCOM, Halo 3 little kids talking cash money ish. Some female gamers get on my nerves, but there are males that get on my nerves too. If you really let someone's sex get you all worked up, maybe your mama didn't breast feed or something. What's the big deal, just calling out someone because of their sex.. Really it's another form of prejudice, or insecurity. blah blah blah who gives a shit. As long as the theme of the game is respected, and there is some form of respect I don't mind using my mic, but I must admit I don't use my mic unless it's FAM, cause some people turn on their system and just completely loose their rabbit ass minds.

Two basic gamers.. The good ones and the bad. Being MALE does not automatically qualify you as good either, nor the other way around.

I found out about gamegirl. com reading gamepro about an hour ago. Got up, got online and decided to check it out, I was about to go back to bed when I noticed this article.
I must say... I'm outraged.
I feel that the sexiest thing in the world is a girl playing video games. Hotter than that? A girl that's good at playing video games and enjoys it.
I know a handfull of women on xbl that play and the best Halo 3 player I have ever met in my online life is a female. No joke this girl owns... EVERYONE.. and I have been in matches with her and seen that men pick her out of the crowd and team up on her.. she kills them all... effortlessly.
Also the only 2 people I have ever met that can beat me in Guitar Hero are girls.
it hurt my pride a little because they were only 16 years old and I talked a bunch of crap before the match but it inspired me to try harder and practice more.
I can't add up all the money I have spent on my girlfriends/ex's trying to get them into gaming.. from buying them nintendo 64 consoles and trying to find mario cart or from buying my current g/f a 360 and a gold membership and enough microsoft points to keep her happy.
It's douche bags like this guy that really need : In the words of a famous squirrel: food poisoning, or to be stabbed in the eye with a really hot french fry.
I hope that someday i will see him in a dark alley.. all alone and have the opportunity to show him how I feel.
For all of your girls... Stick it out, don't sweat what guys say to you online.. and if it bothers you that bad mute your mic... that's what the button is there for. There is always the infamous negative feedback option.
For all of you guys.... If you want to play with a girl gamer... create one.
If you have a girlfriend.. find a game that she likes.. and buy it for her. Do NOT force it down her throat... if she is too embarrassed to play around you for whatever reason.. leave the room. When she gets good she will call you back in to show off.

When she starts to play it alot and you realize it was a good investment but now you never get to play buy her a console of her own.
Women are just as competitive as men and when they focus hard on something they are usually better.
When I was young I remember my mom could play my Nintendo game and still control me and my little brother without even dying.
I can't even have a conversation with my girlfriend while I'm playing a game. I just agree to everything and nod my head.
For all of you that talk smack to girl gamers online... don't hate them because they won't sleep with you.. Take a look at yourself.. would you sleep with you?
