The 7 Best Video Game Commercials

As some of my more dedicated readers may have guessed, I love advertising, especially commercials. There have been countless of good, bad, and ugly video game commercials over the past, well, decades. Here are 7 of my favorite video game commercials. Some of these commercials may not be perfect in getting the message of the video game across but hot damn they were memorable. Like all my lists, they are not simply my opinions, they are true, true as the day is round.

7. Sure some people find these innocent squirrels as racist and stereotypical. Nay I say! These squirrels are simply nuts about their PSP.

6. The Japanese sure know how to sell a product. This ad for Link to the Past is epic! You don't really see nearly enough full length musicals used for the promotion of video games.

5. Slave midgets in spandex. Yes Please. This ad is for Gamecube's Pikmin 2. Mmmmm Hot dogs....

4. Cross dressing fathers. How can that not sell games!?!?! In this add for N64 games a young boy had the option: be scarred for life or make a quick buck, I respect his choices.

3. I just saw this commercial via digg.com a week or two ago but already I see the classic potential. This ad is for Wow and it features Mr.T. He's a Mohawk and its best to not ask questions. There is also a WoW ad featuring William Shatner, click here to see it.

2. Number two is a two parter, because I feel you need to see the first to truly appreciate the second. And I also should add that the reason this didn't make my number one slot was because quickly after airing this bad boy got banned. So here it is, the banned XBOX commercial.

Here is part 2, this is an audition to be one of the many trigger/finger happy actors in the commercial. This old lady nails it!

1. Awww number 1. This commercial, to me, is timeless. I think I first saw it when I was in the seventh grade. I will never be able to hear The Turtles: So Happy Together, without immediately imaging this Super Smash Bros. 64 commercial. Priceless.
