Nintendo Wii News

Nintendo has made a plethora of exciting announcements at it's conference today. The announcements pertain to both the future of the DS and Wii. For full DS coverage check out Miz Calamity's article.

The Wii Storage Situation:
One of the biggest complaints about the Nintendo Wii is the lack of hard drive. Well it would seem Nintendo has heard our cries, kind of. The solution to this tricky problem: SD cards. Expect the new saving capabilities by Spring 2009. This certainly isn't what what most people were expecting but as of now, no one is complaining.
WiiSpeak:
At E3 2008 WiiSpeak was announced but today Nintendo confirmed the creation of the WiiSpeak Channel. The channel will use the WiiSpeak microphones. Up to 4 people will be able to chat together. New Games:

-Nintendo has announced they are releasing "Wii de Asobo" which according to joystiq.com means Play on Wii. Play on Wii will be gamecube titles remade for the Wii. Pikmin will be the first game to make it's way to a Wii makeover. The Pikmin game will make a Christmas debut in Japan but is still TBA for the rest of us.

-A sequel to Sin and Punishment for the N64 has also been confirmed. However, no details on the release date were given.

-In 2009 look forwards to another installment to the Punch-Out!!! series.

sounds like some pretty cool stuff coming out soon. i have seen some other rumors that the wii will be releasing a HD wii in 2011 but thats just a rumor so i dont really believe it yet.

The Pikmin title sounds promising. But none of the heavy hitters?

Where's the new Mario? Where's the new Zelda? Is this really the end of Metroid!?

i love pkmin however i dont think i need to buy this copy when i still have the gamecube one

That's cool that they're remaking GC titles for Wii...but does that mean we'll have to buy them? Haha, if that's the case, I don't think so...
If it's like a patch for existing games though, then I guess it's acceptable. I don't want to re-buy games I already have.

wii owners are gonna have to buy a LOT of those cards if they expect to get anything out of the DLC that's gonna start to become available. specifically on GHWT, i know that the 360 version of the metallica tracks was 1.3 gb, and there's tons more on the way from rock band and ghwt.

I hope they up the size to more than 1 or 2 gb...

Oh, come on, TGS won't even start until October 9th.

4 people can chat together on WiiSpeak?

I'm so going to argue with Shammon, VoiceOfReason, and feanaro about Nintendo stuff.

Anyway, my Banjo account is still unusable over here... :(

*cries*

I'd almost be willing to pay $30 to speak over the Wii, almost, if it weren't for the likelihood that other people who get this thing will be so few and far between that I'd never be able to use it. HUGE oversight from Nintendo to not use voice over the internet, a feature XBL had since launch.

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I'll never get why somebody would want one I'd rather invest my money to your falling financial market than invest in a Wii.

I never thought another punch out would be aloud to be made in todays society (I will be supprised if people don't call it racist). Thank god for nintendo!!

If Punch-Out still has Mike Tyson I'll be sold

I can't wait for the new Wii stuff! It is going to bring the hardcore fans what they wanted from E3!
