Top 7 Star Wars Video Game Characters!

Sep. 16 12:07 AM by Heather

I'm sure you all know that today is the release of The Force Unleashed. So in honor of the game I've compiled the top 7 Star Wars game characters. These guys are the best of the best in my opinion. Not only do they have uber abilities in game but have a great story-line behind them as well. They all have some little trait or another that set them aside from all the rest. Now its easy to pick great Star Wars characters... but game characters! Yikes, when you weed through all the games that don't suck you are left with these guys!

7. HK-47 - Knights of the Old Republic, Knights of the Old Republic II

HK-47, the assassin droid, was originally created by Darth Revan. Not only did he coin the term "meatbags" in reference to all organic life forms, but he had a real thirst for blood with no regard for life. He is one of the most feared assassin droids but is known for his witty remarks. If anything he brings sheer entertainment.

"As you command Master, but I would be very swift and violent in dealing with the little Meatbag..." - HK-47

5&6. Darth Revan and Darth Malak - Knights of the Old Republic

The lack of in depth Sith roles is sad but apparently no one cares. Proving that the bad guys are so under appreciated. My favorite duo of villains though had a short but sweet reign of havoc on the galaxy. The eery looking Darth Revan and his loyal apprentice Darth Malak established a Sith empire that caused the Republic great losses. In the midst of their plan to destroy the jedi, Darth Malak tries to kill his master but fails. Darth Revan is saved and later brought back to the light side by Bastila Shan, who then gets captured by Darth Malak. Ultimately Dark Malak seduces her to the dark side for a short time, but fails again, thanks to Revan. Thus making the two faced Malak and rehab addict Revan cool... in their own... special way.

"You cannot hide from what you once were, Revan! Recognize that you were once the Dark Lord - and know that I have taken your place!" - Darth Malak to Revan

4. Jango Fett - Bounty Hunter

First of all anyone wearing Mandalorian armor is automatically awesome. That wasn't enough though. He landed his own game only after his claim to fame in Attack of the Clones, as the defiant model for the Clone Troopers. This game sets out to to explain how he came to land such an important role in the galaxy. And even throws our heads into a spin with the cutscene showing Darth Sidious commanding his apprentice to seek out the most skilled bounty hunter in the galaxy! GASP! Unfortunately for poor Jango, his game will not be remembered as one of the better Star Wars games, but he stands out among the crowd, character wise. For an awkward third-person shooter, Jango is a solid character who still comes off pretty cool with his gadgets, jet pack, and dual blasters. Despite the games failed mechanics, Jango some-what saves it with his true bad guy perspective.

"I am the best. Always was." - Jango Fett

3. Bastila Shan - Knights of the Old Republic

There is no arguing, Bastila Shan is one badass chick! She possessed the power of Battle Meditation which made her a key player in KOTOR. For a time she uses a yellow lightsaber and then moves on to the traditionally frowned upon, double-bladed lightsaber. Bastila is definitely not your typical Jedi with her headstrong attitude. Her over-confidence eventually leads to her capture by Darth Malak who eventually seduces her to the dark side. Don't panic, she makes her way back to the light side of the force in time for the ending... unless you suck at choosing dialogue options and can't persuade her to come back.

"When I used my Force powers to keep you alive on that bridge it created our bond". - Bastila to Revan

2. Kyle Katarn - SW: Dark Forces

Kyle could quite possibly be my favorite Star Wars video game character. He was created to be a blank character in Dark Forces but became surprisingly popular. This once Imperial Stormtrooper became a famous Rebel Alliance operative and Jedi. He often mocks the jedi as an operative until he learns he is sensative in the force. He is most famous for blowing up the Arc Hammer and destroying the third phase of the Dark Trooper Project. He goes on to star in the Jedi Knight series and even plays a role in SW: Lethal Alliance.

"I'm no Jedi; I'm just a guy with a lightsaber and a few questions." - Kyle Katarn

1. Starkiller aka Galen Marek - The Force Unleashed

The newest face of Star Wars is making a name for himself, literally. He is a token badass who is extremely powerful in the force. Specializing in telekinesis, Sith lightning, force jump, and lets not forget his untouchable saber skills. Being raised by Darth Vader, you would assume him to be a conflicted mess, but he is for the most part calm and determined. He is confident in his skills which easily surpass any opponent...Yes, any. But he has more power in him than even he knew. Learning his name sheds new light on his future and what part he is truely meant to plays in the galaxy. Is he to become a powerful Sith Lord or a heroic icon? Either way his sheer power solidifies his spot but his genuine character makes him the most badass.

"My name...My name is Galen." - Starkiller to Juno Eclipse

Totally can not wait to pick this up today at work!!! AHH!! Good choices BTW =]

You are getting it today?
That is not fair!! Here in England we gotta wait til Friday!!
Top list tho by the way. More star wars top 7's will rock :-)

Oh yeah lol @ "meatbags".
I forgot how funny That was :-)

Great list!! Any list where HK-47 is last has to be good! That thing was hella funny. Also, wasn't 'Starkiller' Luke's name in one of George Lucas' original drafts? I saw the book over the weekend and barely resisted the urge to buy it, and now I just hope I can find a rental this afternoon.

<3 HK-47. he's been round so long that not only is he in KOTOR hes in the DARTH MAUL: Shadow Hunter book that prequels Ep. I

Can't wait. Going to get it in a few hours. And yes, greensabre, Starkiller was in fact the original name Lucas had in mind before he decided on Skywalker. He still retains all creative rights to all things Star Wars so no doubt he liked it and kept in there for that reason.

I cannot wait I loved playing it on the PSP, while I had the chance. I've got to go to work in a few. But then I get to play it tonight. YAY!!

*observes a moment of silence for snypa_99's Star Wars jones today* Well now the moment's over, so ha ha! Actually I probably won't get to play it until this weekend either so I guess the joke's on me too. Anyways, I thought of another character: Dash Rendar from Shadows of the Empire. Sure he was a Han Solo wannabe, but he was still cool.

im about to pick this game up. i go on my lunch break soon and there is a game store 2 blocks away. i cant wait to get home to play this game.

o sweet list. i think Jango Fett could have been higher on the list. only cause the bounty hunters are my fav characters.

Too much KOTOR!! Where is Dash Rendar? The original new character to first appear in a video game?

Otherwise, solid list. Although I feel like there are too many good ones to fill even a list of 20!!

I agree with defconsquad Dash deserves a place on this list. And I think Jango should be nixed becuase he is from the movies. If Jango is on the list Luke should be too as he is the playable character in many a game.

Good list though I love HK-47!!

you say Bastila turns good at the end, that is only if you follow the light side.
If you follow the darkside she joins you, and you loose about half your party.

I loved your list, i know is not easy to pick Star wars characters, they all have aspects, techniques, powers, abilities that marks one from the other. I feel great when i see blogs related to Star Wars, and now i must choose with myself what to do first, Play SW:The force Unleashed or read SW:Dart Bane-Path of Destruccion. definitely the blog of the week :)

@ MrGregs, ever heard of Star Wars:Bounty hunters game?, that explains #4.

@ defconsquad I also feel that Dash Rendar deserves a place in the list, but is Heather's list, and is a good list. Viva star Wars.

I guess I see MrGregs point about Jango Fett, since he was introduced in Episode II. Still he was fairly one-dimenstional in the film, but really fleshed out in Bounty Hunter, so I still think he should qualify for this list.

BTW I did manage to rent Force Unleashed, and it's pretty disappointing for me. I'd recommend renting it first. And I even liked Bounty Hunter and Shadows of the Empire.

@greensabre

I agree. This game is honestly nothing but average and there's nothing wrong with that. I just didn't live up to the hype for me at least. I'll buy it on PSP when it coems down in price cause I don't have much games for it. This game just could have been better...also why no vs for xbox or ps3?????

I was very disappointed with this title...and reviews are not that good either.

Please dont tell me that its not very good!!
I have been avoiding the reviews so i wouldnt find that out
!! lol.
I dont really care tho as im sooo gonna buy it anyway!!
Yeah im a star wars whore. but so what :-P

(PSN snypa_69) go ahead and add me up you know you want too :-P

I don't feel so bad now about teasing you earlier snypa_99 :) By all means try to enjoy it, maybe you will, but I certainly didn't. I just put up my review on Gamepro if you want my opinion.

Im not sure if Starkiller is #1 since I haven't played the force unleashed yet. We will all find out soon though.

what about Starkillers pilot...omg

Well maybe I just liked the game better, but I'd have picked Revan and Malak for #1. I did like Starkiller and his story though. It's also a little unfair to compare RPG characters to action characters, since RPG characters get much more development over the game.

Hey sabre:-)
Finally got it and been playing most of the weekend.
I can safely say that i enjoyed playing through starkillers story.
Yeah there are little bits of the game that could be better. But its star wars so i can forgive it :-)
KotOR is definitely a better game. Thats just the way it is. (i wish they would release that on ps3!!! damn it im sure my pc wasnt really up to it!! lol).

Cool, I'm glad you liked it. I think I might have been a little too harsh on it, but I still don't think it's a very good game. I'm trying to beat it on Sith Master difficulty now, and I've already beaten it on Sith Lord. I must be a masochist or something :)
