WARNING: This is a rant but I would also really like to know your views on the topic.

Lately I have been noticing more and more "All-Female" communities and competitive gaming teams pop up, which is not a bad thing at all. But what has been annoying me the most lately is the slow rising of "Female Only" Gaming Tournaments. Now I have nothing against competing in tournaments, hell I used to compete in them myself--I wasn't very good mainly due to the fact I never had the time to practice. Some of you might be thinking "Well why does this bother you so much?", the answer to that is simple -- I hate the "Segregation" we are creating between the female gamers and the male gamers. Yes females have fought for a long time to get recognized in the gaming community through not only their skill but their knowledge on games and the Industry. But what do tournaments have to do with anything?

Lego Batman Announcement, It's villain time!

May. 7 9:06 PM by bunnyXablaze

Of course everyone has heard the Lego Video Game series has been expanded to two more titles, they've been writen about on GameGirl already aswell. As a huge fan of the Lego Star Wars series, I'm extremely excited about Lego Batman, and have been keeping a close watch on all the information, and announcements floating around. For those of you who don't know what path the game is going to follow, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced it as,
A stampede of notorious criminals have busted out of ARKHAM ASYLUM, where GOTHAM CITY houses only the shadiest of characters. It's up to the famed CAPED CRUSADER to sweep Gotham clean of criminal activity using everything at his disposal, including crime-fighting vehicles as well as several baddie-bashing bat gadgets.
There are a few iconic villians in the Batman series... One of which was recently announced to be included in Lego Batman. Any ideas yet?

Top 7 Video Game Rides

May. 7 1:24 PM by Nikole

This past week I have been driving non-stop, just not irl. I have been driving in GTA 4 and driving in Mario Kart and this got me thinking about the best modes of transportation in games. So here are the Top 7 Rides in Video Games:

7. Mine Kart: Donkey Kong Country. Donkey Kong Country on the SNES is arguably one of the best titles released by the late Rare. A gaming mechanic that was somewhat new at the time was the Mine Cart. The Mine Cart travels down track with many holes that you must jump over. Soon you'll be jumping to get bananas and even while the cart is in mid-air.

Video Games vs. Bad Parents

May. 7 10:08 AM by Raychul

A couple of weeks back we all heard about the Chicago Transit Authority removing GTA 4 ads, their argument was to protect the children, they didn't want to advertise for such an adult game. Then you have misguided assholes like Jack Thompson who sure is loving all of this controversy, GTA 4 gives him something to bitch about. But I do not understand, never once did Rockstar make an advertisement that was geared towards kids, in fact they have said all along that this was an adult game. The GTA series is geared towards and marketed towards adults, what's the harm them? Rockstar isn't the only ones who get shitted on by grumpy adults in power; in fact video games in general get it. How many times have you heard "Video games cause violence"? I call bullshit! These adult games are adult games, made for adults, just b/c it's a video game doesn't mean it is ok for your little 9 year old.

Let's take a step back and look at this, so GTA and other M rated games are adult games, these games are not meant to end up in children's hands, yet (I can speak from first hand experience being a former EB Games employee) the majority of the times these kinda games do end up in a child's hands is through their parents.

Review PSP: Final Fantasy VII - Crisis Core

May. 7 2:33 AM by Miz_Calamity

I am a major Final Fantasy fan and even though Final Fantasy VII isn't my all time favorite out of the series it definitely comes in second. The story in this game is so heart wrenching that I know a lot of the toughest guys who played this teared up. Now what we have with Crisis Core is answers to all the major questions a lot of you Final Fantasy VII fans were asking: What made Sephiorth lose control? What happened to Zack to make Cloud the way he is now? These questions and more have been answered in this long awaited prequel to the fantastic game that is Final Fantasy VII. Most fans were worried about the series not being "true to its roots" and worried about it being put on a portable device but honestly the great graphics that we now have with games makes this Final Fantasy a masterpiece even on a small system.

Bad Girl on Bad Girl with Darlen

May. 6 7:29 PM by NuyoRiquena

Girl on Girl Banner Reality shows have taken over our television sets. This, we know, is a fact. No matter what channel you watch or what your favorite genre is, there is a reality show for you. I, too, have been bitten by the bug. I have become a reality show junkie. One of my favorites straight out the gate was Bad Girls Club on Oxygen. I have always been a fan of the Oxygen channel because it isn't as soft as Lifetime and they have the raunchier programming I love. So naturally when they introduced this new reality show last year, this self-proclaimed bad girl had to tune in, and I was hooked. I couldnt have been more excited when I had the chance to meet and hang out with one of the stars of season 2, Darlen.
